Three Things When Skin Needs a Fresh Start

We all have been there when our skin gets tired of all products we use all the time. Not only they stop working, they start irritating the skin causing breakouts and rashes. The only way to sort it out is to stop using everything you're using in your skincare routine at the moment and bring in completely new things. Here are three essential steps I used morning and night for a couple of weeks.

Lets start with cleansing. I'm sure that my foaming oil from Fresh Line had nothing to do with the breakout (I'm pretty sure it was my face oils, I got a little obsessed with them lately), but I still went for another option. Burt's Bees Anti-Blemish Solution is just as mild and just as good. It has a light touch of scent, it's free from harsh chemicals and does the job. I'm very happy with it.

Toning step turned out a bit of surprise for me. I always was a bit sceptical about Lush products. They often have SLS and parabens in them and for that reason overpriced. And something in general always made me doubt the effectiveness and true "organicness" of the Lush products. But this year one product changed my mind and made me want to give Lush another chance. It was a Breath Of Fresh Air toner. It contains no bad ingredients, in opposite I love the list of ingredients, the smell and the way it makes my skin feel. I think it made biggest input into clearing out my skin because of the sea salt. The only downside of this product is the packaging, the pulveriser is awful, it splashes out the product unevenly and it makes the whole process unpleasant. I prefer squirting it on my hand fisrt, than applying it to my face. But again, as a product itself it was very helpful in clearing out my rebellious irritated skin.

And the final step - moisturiser. It was my first moisturiser from Kiehl's and it turned out to be right up my alley. Kiehl's Ultra Facial Moisturizer is very similar to the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion. Both are unscented, both very nourishing and delicate. The smell though was a bit unpleasant, something about it just made me gag a bit when I had it on my face so I fixed it with couple of lavander essential oil drops. That's why I tend not to gravitate towards the unscented products. However it also contains parabens, but I'm still happy I've tried this moisturiser, it did nothing but good and helped me to clear my skin out of this hideous rush.

What do you do when your skin protests against your current skincare products?

  1. I really have been enjoying Lush products and was definitely pleasantly surprised by this! But they truly do work and I can honestly see a difference. I was skeptical at first but hard to deny that they're awesome products :)
